They say that we're living in difficult times
In a society that's divided
But opportunity rides on a dangerous wind
To the clear eyed and open-minded
They say there's a wave of infection bringing death and disease
But angels among us, faithfully, put our welfare before individual needs
For we aren't just witnesses, but authors, to certainty or confusion
We, the source of what's wrong with the world

Because of Her I have been given life
Because of Her I strive to do what's right
Because of Her I learned to be fair
Because of Her I learned to never, ever, despair
Because of Her My heart yearns to be kind
Because of Her I learned you must also fight, sometimes
Because of Her I know I am blessed
Because of Her Those blessings manifest
Because of Her I can deal with what life brings
Because of Her I see beauty in all things
Because of Her I rise above
Because of Her I know unconditional love

Sometimes it snows in April
Rare spring white flakes
Sometimes the world sees justice
But at what cost What does it take
Years and years of lynching, torture, enslavement,
the breaking of will
Public executions, mass incarceration,
the open casket of Emmitt Till
Or does it take activism, vigorous engagement, staying woke
Or replacing slimy politician who
pass laws to suppress our vote
Yeah, sometimes it snows in April
Spring flakes that may seem strange
Other times there are rare moments in life
we must act upon to bring forth
change

EVOLUTION
As we evolve during this spiritual shift
May a deeper understanding of purpose be our gift
May a selfless spirit be our guide
May the virtues of dignity replace foolish pride
And with the all the knowledge this experience brings
May we shed the narrow-minded views which we cling
Become socially conscious, as we socially connect
Combine courageous compassion with intellect
For societal growth this mindset is essential
If we truly wanna’ live
to our potential

As I start my day, I pray
Lord, open my eyes in a mindful way
Please give me strength and a compassionate heart
Spiritual resolve and wisdom to impart
May I know the devil's playground is the cynical mind
And although we're all navigating our way through difficult times
There're many who are more in need
And blessed are the ones who plant the seeds
The seeds of Faith, Hope, Opportunity
Selflessness, and Unity
May this be my calling for all the days, till I expire
Cause to whom much is given, much is required

Tell me what scares you, what excite you,
When you're bored
Hiding behind the mask of social acceptance is such a chore
Tell me your disappointments, your reservations, your sins
As if it were the prerequisite to the moments we ascend
Tell me what makes you laugh, love. angry, or hurt
Pain, pleasures, inches measure, maturity, or how we revert
Tell me the words I take for granted, and that's for damn sure
As we lay upon each other, the familiar and obscure
And, I will speak the language of a man who has dropped his guard
In the midst of the intimate moments
You allow me in your yard

Overcome the devils with this thing called
LOVE
Standing United, we rise above
Hatred, deception, regression, fear
Tough is the love we wield, my dear
My beloved, my partner, my compatriot, my friend
Power to the people, we are here to defend
Our voices, our truth, our way of life
For victory, with courage, passion, might
