To some,
 I'm the bad guy

To others,
  nice as can be

It doesn't sound very yogic

but,
I'm what you bring up in me

Some think
 I shouldn't admit that

And spiritually,
I should be more evolved

However,
when Yang overpowers 

the Yin

  issues are revealed in us all

So, I'll continue to work on
better habits without
shame or stress

Unofficial First Day of Summer

It's the unofficial first day of summer

and family is here

Auntie yelling at uncle for drinking

too much beer

Little ones learning games 

we used to play

The not so little ones

trying to let us know 

they,

now, have something to say

Of course, my cousin is yelling

bout getting on the grill

Old folks wanna know 

If I'm single, still

My little brother is piling on 

what looks like two plates of food

My sister's gossiping with her

girls

And, wait a minute,

Who's that dude

there's loud music, dancing

and plenty of atmosphere

The Puzzle

I was told I could strengthen my mind

If I did a puzzle from time to time

It didn't have to be daunting 

over even complex

Just something that encouraged

a lil bit of mental flex

So, I picked a puzzle and got down

to work

Bringing the pieces together

 nearly drove me berserk

Till I learned to work my breath

and hone my focus

Subtleties were uncovered that 

were previously unnoticed

Persistence sans attachment

brought moments of clarity

The third eye chakra awakened

inside of me

Strengthening my weaknesses 

Soothing away stress

Smoothing over rough edges

I accomplished more by struggling less

Now that the pieces are
